Adams Oshiomhole politician and an elder statesman. He served two-terms as the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress from 1999 – 2007 during the time of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

And also he served as the Governor of the Edo State from 2008 - 2016. Few hours ago he was the National Chairman of the ruling political party, All Progressive Congress (APC). Which position he assumed on June 6, 2018.
At a time he has publicly supported the re-election of former president Obasanjo in 2003, but soon kicked against some of his(Obasanjo) actions; such as the decision to increase the fuel price. Oshiomhole as the President of then NLC has led strikes and demonstrations against this increase and negotiated a 25% wage increase for public sector workers.
And again, he has represented African Workers for two terms on the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization (ILO), serving on the committee on Freedom of Association.
In addition, he was a member of the Executive Board of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions.

After his time as the leader of the (NLC), Adams Oshiomhole then contested in the gubernatorial election in Edo state in year 2007 under the AC (Action Congress) platform. Despite, Oserheimen Osunbor of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was declared winner, Osunbor’s victory was soon nullified by the election tribunal few months later.
Before, Oshiomhole was declared winner on March 20, year 2008 on the basis of votes irregularities. He served as the Governor of Edo State between November 2008 – November 2016 after his re-election in 2012.
In year 2018, he emerged as the National Chairman of APC after affirmative vote by the party’s delegates from the 36 states of the Federation. Since then, Adams has been at the helm of affairs of the party’s activities.
